Taku Hirai Taku Hirai was born in Kumano city, Mie prefecture in Japan. Mter graduating from high school, he came to the U.S. as an agricultural exchange student, working on various farms and learning language as well as agriculture. He attended the University of Nebraska and earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration. Although his major was in Agribusiness, he found his passion for theatre while at the university. Mter graduation, he moved to San Francisco and worked as an interpreter and guide for a Japanese tourism company, which specialized in the agriculture and food industries. He continued taking acting classes with the American Conservatory Theater and acting teacher, Ed Hooks. Mter moving to New York, he studied acting at the HB Studio and Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Taku loves the outdoors, camping, hiking and fishing. He enjoys taking his family and friends out fishing on his little boat, "Conan" in the Long Island sound. He also loves to work in his garden. Even though his garden is small and rather crowded, it provides enough fresh vegetables for his family and friends. (It is rewarding to see the strength of nature in plants without interfering with it by adding chemicals). Taku lives in Yorktown Heights, New York, with his wife Renee and daughter Lanna.
