"They Called Me Lizzy...from Slavery to the White House" The East Haddam Stage Company, East Haddam CT proudly announces it's upcoming performance date at the Sycamore Rouge Theatre in Petersburg VA. Our one-woman drama, "They Called Me Lizzy...from Slavery to the White House" featuring Bristol CT actress Stephanie Jackson as Elizabeth Keckly, will play the Sycamore Rouge Theatre, 305 North Sycamore Street on Thursday February 21st at 8:00pm. www.sycamorerouge.org for tix: 804-957-5707. Madame Keckly was born into slavery, but through her tenacity and skills as dressmaker, purchased her freedom and launched her own business. She came to the attention of Mary Todd Lincoln, became her dressmaker (and stylist) as well as confidante and friend. With interest in Elizabeth Keckly's life heightened by inclusion in Spielberg's recent movie Lincoln, the public will have a chance to experience a much fuller view of this extraordinary woman. EHSCO has been touring the show since 2006, throughout the eastern US, from Boston to North Carolina, as well as Canada, and is thrilled to be sharing it with the Petersburg VA community.
